Arthur Ash

Arthur Ahs the unforgettable tennis legend in the American history. The author of the book A HARD ROAD TO GLORY.

Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease"?
To this Arthur Ashe replied: The world over -- 5 crore children start playing tennis, 50 lakh learn to play tennis, 5 lakh learn professional tennis, 50,000 come to the circuit, 5000 reach the grand slam, 50 reach Wimbledon, 4 to semi final, 2 to the finals, When I was holding a cup I never asked GOD "Why me?". And today in pain I should not be asking GOD "Why me?"
Happiness keeps u Sweet, Trials keep u Strong, Sorrow keeps u Human, Failure Keeps u Humble, Success keeps u Glowing, But only God Keeps u Going.....

He used to tell that he want be like a Leonardo Da Vinci a versatile personality. I know this fellow buy, borrow and lend books from friends and read a lot. When ever a meeting happens in the Chennai city, if it is not entry by Invitation this fellow will be in the first row. Even I used to witness it on my own eyes. One fine Saturday evening, I was totally free from regular work. So, I gazed through the Hindu newspaper about the today’s engagement column. There I found a meeting by Nanna Balki Vala foundation and the guest speaker is Mr.BalaSubramaninan Former IFS officer. My job profile is only with the Man and Machine interaction. I am working as software professional. So, I thought, I can enjoy the lecture. That is a wonderful lecture. It is all about the India’s foreign policy for the neighboring countries. The lecture was come to the end. The organizers announced that every one can collect the lecture series book let as a token of appreciation. I went out side and aligned my self with long queue. It is like a round about with different arms. I am standing in one arm. My time has come to receive the book let at that time another fellow stretched his hand and received the copy. I turned slowly that is none other than my beloved friend AKN-1 Prasad (Avid reader). We both shook hands and started chatting about the lecture points. This was happened at my early college days. Due to my frequent trips to the foreign countries, we both did not have contact at all. Now, I am chewing the memories about that. I am turned 58 and retired as a senior manager from that same company. I am really wanted to see my friend. I am sure that he may be in very high position in the life.

Geophysical explorations – Study the Mother Earth!!!

Rocks are the pieces which will speak their age and origin like our ices. Ice molecules are also a wonderful one which will reveal their age and the temperature at the falling through carbon dating. Archeans are the oldest rocks.
Seismic study will help as to draw the vertical profile of the sub surface earth. The P,S and L waves are very useful in finding this. The L wave will be affected if the molten rocks as well as the temperature.
Magnetic study:
Magnetometers are helpful in finding the magnetic field of earth. The rocks present below will change the magnetic field frequently. Earth normal magnetic fields strength is 0.3 Gauss.
Note: Indira Gandhi Center for Atomic Reactor, Kalpakkam center has developed a Magnetic field generator of 48 kiloGauss. The instrument is called as K500 cyclotron.
Electrical methods:
Solid rock will conduct the electric current very strongly so the soundness is very high.
Gravity study:Gradiometers as very useful to find the gravity field. The presence of rocks will change the gravity value significantly.

Gender Benders - World population day – july 11th

Today is world population day. The population growth is like a ticking bomb gives threat to the mother earth. One side we have gender disparity, malnutrition and other side obesity. Now in the global village one can not live peacefully if your neighbor has life threading problems. As per the Maslow’s priority triangle food, clothe, shelter and self esteem is the order one who aspire to have. One state want to live with dignity at the same time the other state has nothing to eat. The depriving state will try to loot from the affluent state. That is the order of life. That is why the humanitarian concern is ranging high.
The indicators ranging from the mortality to the rural employment will give as a clear picture of present pathetic situation. We all need to pull up our shocks and do the needy things very urgently. If not the condition is improved, we can not see a peaceful and coexistence in the world.

Terrorist, Urban Guerrilla, Freedom Fighter: What’s the Difference?

Terrorist is the fellow who wants to terror the government by doing the public killing and assassinations. His main motive is to seek the attention of government for this demand. They normally doest not believe the ruling government and they want to set up their own government. Even the business man and a state can also be a terrorist by sponsoring money for the groups.

Freedom fighter is the fellow on who claims that he is working for the people of the own region and against the clutches. Here, he is fighting against the government but the own peoples claim there are all freedom fighters but the government which he run against claims him as a terrorist.

Normally the terrorist, urban guerrilla’s and militants will seek separate region or new government in their region.

Naxalites are politically motivated. They never ask separate country. They only ask policy’s for their own people from the poverty.

But one thing is very clear for all .The KILLER IS THE KILLER and the MURDER IS MURDER.

Business Model – Saravana stores, Chennai, Tamil nadu

Adam smith is our father of economics and he only coined the word Political economy. Adam smith defined Profits "as type of return which accrues to undertakers as the reward for the trouble taken, and the risks incurred, in combining the factors of production".
My first entry in to the Saravana stores at ranganathan street, T.Nagar, Chennai gave me a different perspective those days. My self and my friends use to spend our Saturday evening by just walking on the streets. It’s just a window shopping experience for our self.
For the last one decade, I was doing all my purchase from the store only. The striking business model is very simple. They are using only the number games. So, they can sell the product in mass selling with low price. The price will go even below the MRP rates. The branded items are received in a bulk order so they are able to sell even with branded items with lower price than the exclusive franchisee stores. The major target groups are the lower middle class peoples. I have seen many times those people will come on their Lorries and vans from the outskirts of Chennai for the mass purchase during the festive times.
They can concentrate more on the customer treatments. The astonishing think is the route between billing and the product selection.

I should appreciate the growth of the store over the 10 year period. At the same time they should learn to RESPECT the CUSTOMER. The workers in the store treat the customer as if they are the rulers. Now, I am really afraid to enter the store any more.
CUSTOMERS ARE THE KING IN THE MARKET

Doctor on my Dream!!!!!!

I got a nice opportunity to get a contact with the doctor, where she is doing her final year BDS (bachelor of dental surgeon) in a near by hospital. One day I got pain on my first molar teeth. Its called Clause two cavity. The first day, I went to the hospital for the x-ray test and plague removal. I am lying on the dentist char. The final year guys and gals of BDS student surrounded me. The chief doctors take my case as an exam case to explain the clause 2 cavity and methods to remove the infection. I was frightened by the gang of doctors. But, my natural habit of room gazing never went of. I just glanced 360 degree of the room. In between, a lady doctor, who is looking me very curiously from far away, stopped my eyes. So, I was also got some curiosity, why she is starring at me like this. By the time the close observation was over, so they asked me to come next day for the operation. It’s a five minutes job only. I came out from the hospital and thought of taking a cup of strong coffee. I ordered a coffee at the canteen. Then only I realized, she is standing near to me with big smile. I was filled with joy and shock. She started speaking to me with her self-introduction. Then, I also responded with my introduction. She said, sir, I am very lucky to meet you and I need a favor from you. She said that she is having a final year practical examination within couple of weeks. I said its ok. What I do for it. She said that she needs a case for her final year practical examination with some simple case. She asked for my help. I was filled some excitement and also same amount with fear. Because she is novice in the field and going to this practical exam for her to obtain degree. But some how I accepted to come as a case for her final exam. Which is going to happen after ten day. She notes down my cell phone number and told me that she call frequently. I am very happy with some excitement. I don’t know, why I am happy. Finally the ten day was gone like anything. I got frequent call during the period about my health from her . At .last the final exam date came. I woke up in early morning and took my two-wheeler to reach the exam center of her. I was little late to reach the center. She was nervous about my presence and got doubt. I reached and called her number from my cell phone. That time, I can able to see the face difference on her. We both entered the hall. The examination is about to start. I did not tell any thing and even sorry for it. The think is, I don’t want to spoil the exam mood. She asked me to lay down on the dentist char and I did so. The exam started and she did well. After that only I came to know about her, that her father is also a dental surgeon. So, she took good practice from her father’s clinch itself. She is the one who finished her three hours exam with in thirty minutes. My mind is very much worried about her early completion of the exam .She took only 30 minutes, why not 3 hours. I inner voice told that you’re a selfish. Because I am enjoying her close presence while doing the surgeon. I got in to the dreams. I was inhaled her TOMMY GIRL brand body spray and got in to the dream world. The exam was got over. She said that she would catch you later. Day was gone and months were gone. I did not have single call from here. So, I thought, why don’t I make call to just say Hi!!. The good thing is she remembers my name and asked about me. We hang up the phone. My mind started thinking backwards. Why I got sudden soft corner for her and longing for it. Again I got in to the unexplainable questions and answers of it. But, anyhow I had very good time for at least a half hour. Now. the whole incident looks very funny for me. The Doctor who came on mind on the doctor’s day is really great. I am wishing her for the SKILL AND COMMITMENT for the profession.
DOCTORS’S DAY WISHES TO YOU

Friday, July 01, 2005

Hello…Doctor…

Honoring you for your skill and commitment as a doctor
I don’t know, how many of us will really know that July 1st is Doctors day. I want to remember one of the doctor who came in my life. My feeling over the doctors is really different in general. Because they have seen lot of patients in their lifetime. They look at the patients as like a mechanical part of a machine. Like our Mechanical engineers look. (It’s my opinion previously) My childhood day onwards I had a fear to go to hospital. I am really a hesitant to take even tablets for my fever. I had a strange thought in my early ages. If a fellow attaches a feeling and sympathy over the patient, whether he can able to do the operations and so on. If he also emotionally tempted, how the scenario will go. Instead of looking every patient emotionally .its good to be rationale to the situation and the severity.
America’s Doctors day !!!
First Doctors' Day observance was March 30, 1933, in Winder, Ga. The idea came from Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Cha Almond, and the date was the anniversary of the first use of general anesthetic in surgery. (On March 30, 1842, Dr. Crawford Long of Barrow County, Ga., used ether to remove a tumor from a patient's neck.)• The Barrow County Medical Society Auxiliary proclaimed the day "Doctors' Day," which was celebrated by mailing cards to physicians and their wives, and placing flowers on the graves of deceased doctors, including Dr. Long.• The United States House of Representatives adopted a resolution commemorating Doctors' Day on March 30, 1958. In 1990, legislation was introduced into the United States House of Representatives and United States Senate to establish a National Doctors Day. Following overwhelming approval by the House and Senate, then-President George Bush signed a resolution designating March 30 as National Doctors' Day. The first National Doctors' Day was celebrated in 1991.

India’s Doctors day!!!
How did first of July get to be designated Doctors’ Day in India. First of July happens to be the birthday of a very famous Physician of India, Dr B C Roy.
Dr B C Roy was born on July 1, 1882 at Bankipore in Patna in Bihar. His career as a physician started in 1911 when he came back to India from Bartholomew’s hospital in the UK having completed his MRCP. Thereafter, he joined the teaching staff of Calcutta Medical College and later moved to Campbell Medical School and then to Carmichael Medical College. He dedicated his life to the upliftment of Indian society, especially, the downtrodden.
Not only did he excel as a physician, he was an educationist, social reformer, freedom fighter (joined Mahatma Gandhi in the Civil Disobedience movement), leader of Indian National Congress and later chief minister of West Bengal. Dr B C Roy passed away on July 1, 1962 on his birthday.
Thus July 1st was considered an appropriate day to be designated as Doctors’ Day- a tribute to Dr B C Roy and the entire medical profession.
